Visit to St.Alphonsa Tomb at Bharananganam

On my way to a site,I was passing very close to Bharananganam where mortal remains of First saint of India,St.Alphonsa are kept for veneration.

I am giving pictures below. The church looks very well designed with possibly Portuguese architecture mixed with traditional Kerala architectural features. But the tomb, museum and related newly added  buildings are not properly designed for such a pilgrimage place where lakhs of pilgrims are expected to come.

Overall the buildings, arrangements are not designed well enough to kindle divine feelings in the visitor.Very near to the tomb of the saint a large box for collecting donations is kept.I some how felt this as commercialization of the  whole divine place.More than making people religious minded our pilgrim places are being degraded with commercial interest overtaking spiritual interests.
