I have seen quite big size Rosewood trees on the way to Ootty with base size as high as 200 inches or more.Probably these trees must be there for nearly 200-300 years to attain such size especially being Rosewood tree which grows slowly.
Just in front of our site near Ootty I have noticed several fruit trees with ripe fruit they call as Ootty Apple.We call it as Sabarjil whereas the local people simply calls it as Perakka.It is similar to apple in taste and nature but green in colour.I have taken a cement bag full of these fruits with the help of our workers.Cost of these fruits there at Ootty is only about Rs.2/- per Kg.When it comes to Kerala cost increases to Rs.30 /-and above
